Motul 8100 X-power 10W60 is 100% synthetic oil. Possibly the best factory spec motorsport engine oil before stepping up to Motul 300V Motorsport Line. Appreciated by many drivers and motorsport engineers for the consistent and predictable oil pressure, low evaporation rate and very robust film strength.
The Motul 8100 X-power 10W60 of today carries all the features of the original product used in research and development when Motul was partnered with Prodrive back the 1980's, racing the famed Prodrive Group A Motul/Rothmans BMW E30 M3 and earlier with the Factory BMW Racing Team in the 1970's, managed by Tom Walkinshaw, later becoming TWR (Walkinshaw).
Most commonly required by BMW M3, Aston Martin, Audi R8 GT, Alfa Romeo GT, Maserati/Ferrari V12, TVR, Cosworth and many others where a 10W60 viscosity is required.
8100 X-power 10W60 is suitable for tuned engines with mild cam profiles (Lift, duration, ramp) and/or moderate valve spring pressure (<180psi) requiring more than 1100ppm of Zinc.
NOTE: Do not use Zinc additives. More than approximately 1200ppm of Zinc is ineffective, negatively impacting other wear protection additives and is considered Zinc saturation or Zinc dosing. If cam wear occurs, investigate mechanical or oil flow issues. Consult Motul.
Motul strongly recommends the use of oil coolers or upgraded oil coolers fitted with thermo fans to ensure engine oil operating temperatures are not exceeded.
For highly tuned engines and motorsport, use Motul 300V for the ultimate in performance and protection.
High quality engine oil flush additives are encouraged, however do not use leave-in additives ('performance improvers') with any Motul engine oil products.
