RG240 & IM240 Testing
What is an IM240 or RG240 test?
An "RG240 emissions test" refers to a standardised vehicle emissions test used to measure the level of pollutants emitted by a car, where it simulates a short driving cycle on a dynamometer to assess the vehicles exhaust emissions against set standards
Purpose
To determine if a vehicle meets emission regulations by measuring the amount of pollutants like hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) released during a controlled driving cycle
How does it work?
The vehicle is placed on a dynamometer, which simulates everyday driving conditions while the exhaust gases are being analysed by specialised equipment during a pre-programmed driving cycle. The RG240 test typically lasts around 240 seconds (approximately 4 minutes). After completing the test drive cycle the results from the vehicles test are compared to the ADR standards applicable to the vehicle to determine if it meets the requirement
